Another Weekend—Another Event

We’ve been to all kinds of festival and food type events, but never a Lettuce Days. It is held to honor the growers, the harvesters and of the produce—Yuma after all is the lettuce capital of the world.  It is a three day opportunity to celebrate Yuma's agricultural industry and to learn the importance of agriculture for the community.
We attended on Saturday, meandering through the exhibits, arts and crafts vendors, cooking and carving demonstrations by local chefs, educational booths, live entertainment, local restaurant specialty foods sampling with beer and wine tasting and we were even given several food type freebies.

One of the highlights for us, was the a narrated bus tour through Yuma agricultural areas. A local expert explained what is going on in the fields, how Yuma agriculture is unique and the impact on the economy. Learned lots!
