Where did the Time Go??

Six months blew by in Oregon, with family & friends, RV outings, house sitting, grandkids, birthdays, holidays, remodeling, working and ..... well seems I lost track of time after Gina's wedding. Some things are just not explainable, and my lack of blogging is one of those things.

So here is a quick and fast overview via photos of some of those memorable happenings.

Casey's RV Park in Westfir, OR is perched on the edge of the Willamette River and is one the prettiest parks we have ever stayed. Sites are level, wide and long, with grass and flowers and the park has a calm feel to it. You are surrounded by mountains and you can throw a fishing line into the river if the mood suits you.

This is the view  from our Motorhome window. We were there at the end of June with our Classic RV Club.

We were hosting the "Route 66" event for our Classic RV Club members and this setting allowed us all to have a great time.


October and November found us house/cat sitting for our good friends Gary and Joyce, who decided to have an adventure of their own. They hit the road in their car for a 7 week trip across the US to visit family, friends, battlefields, museums and even throw in a Cruise and a visit to the Mouse in Disney World.

We even had a family "Halloween Event" in their home.....seems some Munchkins and a one very scary character showed up.

Our grandson, Priveen (age 4) stayed a week with us, and we were privileged to watch him at his favorite activity at this time, Tae Kwon Do--and yes he is good!

 Soon it was Thanksgiving at our 2nd son, Jaemes and Brandi's home and it was a blessing to have all of the family there.

Christmas day was spend our 1st son's home, Frankie Jr and Sheri and again family magically appeared...seems they didn't have anywhere else to go.

Spending the holidays in Oregon gives us the time to be with family and friends and enjoy all that this time of year brings. Laughter, shopping, Santa visits, cookies, hugs, way too much good food, playing games, music, presents, visiting, lights, decorating, joy, church, and best of all memories!

Today is the Day--Gina & Quinn wed

The wedding went off without a hitch and we all were able to enjoy each moment of this special day. It was a beautiful, stress free and magical day. I do believe the memories will stay with us always.

The fun continues and today Melissa, the Maid of Honor, and Ryan arrived.

We are having fun snorkeling since it was high on the list of must do's;), as well as playing on the beach and of course a Hawaiian Luau which is a must for all visitors. 

Got Malasadas???

In June 1882 the British sailing ship 'Monarch' brought Arsenio and Amelia DoRego from San Miguel Island, Portugal to Maui, Hawai’i under contract to work the sugar cane fields. Some 33 years later, their grandson Leonard was born. In 1946 Leonard and his wife Margaret moved to Honolulu with their daughter Diane, age 8. Leonard worked at Snowflake Bakery until he founded Leonard's Bakery in 1952. It is here their famous Malasadas our produced.


A malasada is sort of like a doughnut without the hole. Fried in generously-sized balls of dough until the crust is golden brown with a light and fluffy inside. The malasada has a sweet toasted flavor, both crunchy and chewy. Well, yummy is my only description!

We have arrived in Hawaii-Yahoo

Frank and I elected to arrive a few days prior to the family. We thought a few days by ourselves would give us the chance to relax and allow us to better be available to our family on their arrival. Hey good choice on our part!!! We stayed at an out of the way "old Hawaiian 2 story, outside lobby" hotel, and just a few blocks from the beach.

The day after we arrived it was King Kamehameha Day, big day locally and great day for us personally. King Kamehameha Day was proclaimed in 1871 by King Kamehameha V, to honor his great grandfather, King Kamehameha I. The first King Kamehameha Day was on June 11, 1872, and it was one of the first holidays to be proclaimed when Hawaii became a state in 1959. It is a public holiday of the state of Hawaii and honors Kamehameha the Great, the monarch who first established the unified Kingdom of Hawaiʻi. 
 We attended the opening ceremonies as well as the all Hawaiian parades that follow (which were only a block from our hotel)

1st comes the bridal shower

Soon our daughter Gina will be married in Hawaii, but today her sister Melissa and maid of honor gave her a wonderful bridal shower with a tropical theme.

There were

creative games and fun activities, and the spread of delicious food to complimented the day.
