Yuma; at Home with Good Friends

We left Casa Grande and headed west to Yuma, and pulled into our good friends Jenny & Dan’s lot in the foothills just after 2:00. They have built a delightful Casita, and have two full-hookup sites, one which they occupy & one which friends (such as us) are invited to stay. Other times they rent this space to students Dan teaches in his position as a driver instructed for the RV Driving School.

While we were there, Dan came home with the GOLD in the Senior Olympics for pickleball! He plays almost everyday & we know he takes it seriously. Good job, Dan.

The Sheppard’s have just finished their “dream patio” & in our opinion their patio is designed as a peaceful retreat as well as a great place for friends to gather. On our stay we were able to meet Jenny’s mom, Dot & her husband Jack. What a delightful time we had with all of them, happy hours, dinners, games and lots of good conversation. Casa Grande to Yuma-the beauty of AZ

We traveled west from Casa Grande toward Yuma, AZ and have recently realized how much we have come to love this area of the US. This was not always the case for us, since our roots are in the tall trees & green lush land of the NW. We were guilty of dismissing what looked, to us, as endless amount of sands, prickly & strange cactus & a desolate land that was without virtue.

But over the last several years we have discover how much AZ has to 0ffer in the way of beauty & sights we have not found anywhere else on our travels. There is such an incredible array of colorful sunsets, unbelievable landscapes of rock formations, a diversity & verity of spectacular cactus & wildflowers . Our appreciation for this land that once appeared to be only barren to us, has become a place of wonderment & beauty. We are conscious of its ability to not only survive in the harshest of environments, but to thrive wholeheartedly. We continue to be in awe & are thankful for our freedom to enjoy the incredible scenery that unfolds before us each day.

Relaxing in Casa Grande

Since returning from Mexico, Frank and I have been relaxing at our home park in Casa Grande, AZ. You know swimming in a warm pool, hot tubbing, daily walking, enjoying the great weather, sunsets to die for seeing the sights, BBQ’s, visiting with friends, happy hours,  and….---well kind of--there is the need to do the daily & yearly cleaning, upkeep & maintence of RV  & toad,  paying bills, straightening out those charges  & things that don’t jive with our records, laundry (lots), travel planning, medical, vision & dental appointments, fixing the things  (big & small) that seem to be an ever on going project, restocking the groceries, dealing with the unexpected, updating blogs & facebook:), reconnecting with family & friends & of course enjoying our time here which thankfully includes spending time with folks on the road like us---well I guess we are relaxing some of the time:), but mostly just living life day by day.

Hey we have to remind ourselves we are NOT on vacation, but living life on the road--which is still living life (abeit diferently), with all things that are a constant & need to happen --making an income , paying expenses, upkeep 0f  health & property, connecting with family & friends, deciding what needs to happen next & striving  to make the best of the time we have here on earth. Life is Good!!

South of the Border down Mexico Way

It had been a couple of years since we had been to Mexico, so when one of our boomer friends posted that a trip was planned, we signed on.

A group of 12 rvs headed south of the border to Puerto Penasco also known as Rocky Point on February 1st. We had all gathered at the Gila Bend Elks on Sunday & left early Monday morning arriving just after noon at the RV park, Playa Bonita. The park sits right on the beach, has full hookups, good power & the drive down was on good roads with shoulders--now that’s the way to travel to Mexico.

We spent each day doing something new--a city tour, Tequila tasting, an aquarium, the Eco Earthship, fish & shrimp tacos in the neighborhood, a sunset dinner cruise with dancing, an evening “Food ie Tour” to outstanding Taco stands, a fishing trip that yielded lots of good eating fish, shopping, a bakery run, daily happy hours, potluck, breakfast brunch, dinner & lunches out, walks on the beach, campfires on the beach, games, a special girlfriend lunch, a Boomer birthday party, a wonderful Superbowl day & bought the freshest shrimp . The problem was we had not scheduled enough time to do all that we would have like too--well there is always next year.
