A Birthday, Geraldine & Dutch Oven Cooking

Wow what a great time we have had in Quartzsite.  Too many things to list, but here are a few highlights of our time these past 2 weeks.

For the 3rd year in a row we have gotten to spend Diane Fisher’s birthday with her, what a treat for us, especially since Jim again made dinner for all of  us:)   

Then there was that contest--Geraldine, where some of the men decide they will show the rest of us how to do “the girl” thing & spectators judge who does it best. And this year we thought each of the participants entertained us well, the winner was our top choice as well. Our good friend Lynn was escorted by Elvis (& you thought he was deceased). What a hoot this display is for all of us.

Have you ever thought about Dutch Oven Cooking around the campfire--well we learned how & got to sample the very tasty results of their hard work. One word--YUMMY!

Boomerville is alive & well in Quartzsite, AZ

We left Palm Springs early Wednesday morning and headed East to the happening in the desert. Every year in January thousands upon thousands of RV’ers head to the desert in the of “middle of nowhere”. Why??? It is hard to explain what draws so many, but we can tell you Boomerville is what draws us to go out into the desert with no hookups & spend 2 weeks enjoying Boomers friends new & old. This year more than 125 rigs gathered at Boomerville, and like as in years past we shared, played, talked & enjoyed as much as we could of what Boomers graciously shared. It is hard to imagine how busy you could be, but be assured one could not participate in all that is scheduled. Each day the posted schedule grows as a boomer adds an event, class, trip or sharing time. A small sampling included: RVing Alaska, RVing the Maritimes, Solar classes, boondocking 101, RVing Mexico, traveling to Europe, Cancer Support group, geocaching, hikes, Women discussion groups, Poker, pinochle, beading, quilting, computer discussion, 4 wheeling trips, potlucks, pancake breakfasts, brunches, desert bar trips, chili cookoffs, Geraldine contest, Dutch Oven Cooking, Wine Tasting, Moab info, Rose Parade event, auction, Potato Bake,  morning walks, daily happy hours & many nightly fires. But of course we have  to allow time reconnecting with friends and playing games at night.

Palm Springs after the holidays

Our travel back from the Oregon to California was uneventful & we are now settled in at the Thousand Trails Park in Palm Spring. The sun is shining & we are trying to get back into the RV mode.

We visited the FMCA rally in Indio, & as often happens when traveling found good friends Fran & Bill Rayner & Cathy & John Robnik who happen to be parked at the rally. We shared happy hour & the very entertaining return to the Silverscreen Days Parade that evening.  And we all watched the sunset at evening’s end.
